Shauna Moar, 35, competed in the under 75 kilo weight category at the World Heavy Events Association (WHEA) championships in Kuopio.
The WHEA is the anti-doping natural strongman and woman federation.
Originally from Lerwick, Moar now lives on the Scottish mainland as a coach and aims to break into the professional world of strongwomen shows next year.
She qualified for last weekend’s world championships after winning the Scottish event in May and coming second at the UK-wide event two months later – both in the under 81-kilo category.
Moar said that because the world championship did not run an under 81-kilo category, the toughest element in the whole competition for her was to lose six kilos in the run-up to last weekend so that she was able to participate.
The two-day event saw her doing well in a series of competitions such as a wheelbarrow time trial, sandbag to shoulder, truck pull arm over arm and a loading race where she had to carry four sandbags weighing 65 and 85 kilos each over a distance. She said:
“I am really happy with how I did.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be easy cutting my weight and training hard beforehand without being able to eat much.
“I have another two competitions this year, including the world deadlift championships in Paisley in October, so I am aiming to increase my record there.”
She added that she was looking for one or two more sponsors willing to help her with travel costs.
